US Deputy Ambassador Graces 2010 GYSD Gala

Welcoming US Deputy ambasador During the 2010 GYSD Gala US Deputy Ambassador to Kenya Mr Lee Anthony Brudvig, was among key personalities that graced the 22nd Global Youth Service day gala  at the Saint Theresa's Girl School in Nairobi. The event, held on 23rd April 2010 capped a  total of participation of  800 people on the opening day (23rd April) and 500 on the second day (24th April). Another 500 youth took part in a build up event organized by Ngei One Youth Group in Mathare slums. The buildup event focused on HIV awareness. In addition to Mr. Brudvig, the event was graced by officials from USAID Kenya led by their Youth Development Program Specialist, Ms Pamela Wesonga, Mr. Cyprian Nyamwamu (NCEC Secretary general), officials from Mars group,Kenya and Youth leaders from across the city.

Global Youth Service Day is an annual worldwide campaign that celebrates and mobilizes the millions of children and youth who improve their communities each day of the year through service and service-learning. In Kenya and Eastern Africa region at large the events celebrations were led and coordinated by Kenya Slum Youth Development Organization (KESYDO) who have been for the last 3 years the regional lead agencies for GYSD.
