Bondo rangers of Western Kenya were crowned the Men Soccer champions of the 2010  GYSD cup after  beating Bondo United one goal to nil. The ladies finals saw Bondo United Thrash Maranda 3 goals to nought to Lift the ladies trophy. The GYSD 2010 Soccer tournament was organized by Action against Poverty for Socio-Economic Justice (AAPSEJIK) with support from Equity Bank LTD, PLAN-Kenya, World Voices Positive and KESYDO to commemorate the 22nd global youth service day in Nyanza province  Kenya. AAPSEJIK serves the poor women, youths, people with disabilities and children by facilitating access to health care, education, relief, economic opportunities and legal needs through the establishment of relevant programs, advocacy and local resource mobilization. They were the appointed local lead agencies for GYSD in Nyanza province Kenya.

The  prestigious Global Youth Service Day trophy and a Football were handed over to the winners by the Bondo constituency COE coordinator who was  presided over the ceremony.The other teams were also awarded as below:

• Runners Up Men – 2 footballs
• All semi-finalists and finalists of ladies football – 1 ball each

The Youth were encouraged to take up an active role in National issues. The committee of experts on constitutional review was represented by the Bondo constituency coordinator who urged the youth to equip themselves to vote in the forthcomming New constitution referendum. As well the youth were advised to spend wisely and save regularly  so as to safeguard their future.
